Costa Coffee is recalling four of its sandwich and wrap products over fears they may contain “small stones”.
The largest and fastest-growing coffee shop chain in the UK is recalling the products as they “may present a choking hazard and are unsafe to eat”, according to an announcement from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The FSA is advising customers who have bought these items to “not eat them” but to return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund with or without a receipt.
Costa Coffee has also issued a recall notice to its customers and has apologised.
The notice reads: “Customer safety is of paramount importance to Costa and we take all issues regarding the production of our foods extremely seriously.

“We are completing a recall of the following products due to the possible presence of small stones which could pose a choking hazard.
“We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
The products being recalled are the Costa Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap, Costa Southern Fried Chicken Wrap, Costa Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Costa BLT sandwich.

A Costa Coffee spokeswoman said: “Costa Coffee is recalling four savoury items. We have been notified by our supplier of a possible presence of small stones that could be a choking hazard if consumed.
“Customers who bought any of the products listed should not eat them and instead, please return to a store, with or without a receipt, for a full refund.
“We take this matter extremely seriously and sincerely apologise for any concern this recall has caused.”
