Lidl recently put out an important notice urging customers to return a specific product.<\/p>\n
The supermarket chain is recalling XXL Ocean Sea Cooked and Peeled Large Prawns because they contain sulphites.<\/p>\n
Product details<\/strong><\/p>\n Sulphites are not mentioned on the label, which means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide, or sulphites.<\/p>\n Lidl said: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to sulphur dioxide, we advise you not to eat it.<\/p>\n READ MORE… <\/strong> Urgent ‘do not eat’ alerts for Lidl and Tesco shoppers due to salmonella risk<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given.”<\/p>\n Lidl added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.”<\/p>\n Allergy UK said sulphites are preservatives that may affect up to 13 percent of people who have asthma.<\/p>\n Sulphites work by releasing the gas sulphur dioxide, which can be an irritant for some people.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> The charity elaborated: “Sulphites can cause allergy-like symptoms in people with underlying asthma and allergic rhinitis.”<\/p>\n Most commonly, a person who is reacting to sulphites will be wheezing, have a tight chest and cough.<\/p>\n Asthmatics suffering from a reaction to sulphites are encouraged to use their inhaler.<\/p>\n The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued the alert on November 30, 2023, which will continue to be in place for a while.<\/p>\n\n
