  • 12 cupunsalted butter, and more to grease the dish
  • 1cupbrown sugar, packed
  • 12 cupcorn syrup or 1/2cupgolden syrup
  • 12 cupcocoa powder (to taste)
  • 14 teaspoonsea salt
  • 1teaspoonpure vanilla extract
  • 8cupspuffed wheat cereal

    DIRECTIONS

  • Generously grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, add butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, cocoa powder and salt.Stir until everything is well combined. When it starts simmering, let it bubble for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and add vanilla; stir well. Add the cereal and stir until evenly coated.
  • Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press down evenly using a spatula or place parchment paper on top; remove the paper and discard it.
  • Let it sit at room temperature until completely cool, about 1 ½ to 2 hours. Cut into squares and serve.
