My uncle used to make it a lot when I was little for my cousins and I, and now I make it 1-2 times a week.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breasts
- 3 crowns of broccoli
- 3-4 bags Cavatelli
- Pinch salt
- 1/4 sugar
- Oil
- 1 c Parmesan cheese
- Sprinkle garlic powder
- 1 stick butter
- 1 tsp garlic
- 1/2 c water
Steps
Heat oil in a pan or grill over medium to high heat
Clean chicken (if desired) and place in a clean plate
Season chicken with with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Repeat on opposite side
Place chicken in oil and grill for about 5 minutes on each side. Check each side after 2.5 minutes
In a small to medium sauce pan heat oil on medium high heat. Place garlic in oil
Cut broccoli crowns and place the florets in a bowl
Rinse the florets and drain the remaining water
Place broccoli in oil with the garlic
Add salt, pepper, garlic powder and sugar. Mix all together
Place the cooked chicken in a plate and cut into small pieces
Place cut chicken into a bowl and cover
Add water to broccoli and simmer for 5 minutes. Stick a knife into the stem to check for readiness (if done the stem should be soft)
In a large sauce pan fill with water and bring to a boil
Add a pinch of salt to the water and add pasta to boiling water. Mix immediately
Drain the broccoli from the oil and water and place in bowl with the chicken
In a large serving bowl coat the bottom with Parmesan cheese
Heat up chicken and broccoli in the pan you cooked the chicken in
Drain pasta and add to large serving bowl
Add in the chicken, broccoli, butter, salt, oil, pepper and Parmesan cheese.
Serve while hot and enjoy!
