Margie's Chocolate Sheet Cake

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups sugar
  2. 2 cups flour
  3. 1 stick butter
  4. 1/2 cup crisco
  5. 1 cup water
  6. 2 T. Cocoa
  7. 2 eggs
  8. 1/2 cup buttermilk
  9. 1 t. Baking soda
  10. 1 t. Vanilla
  11. For icing:
  12. 1 stick butter
  13. 1 square chocolate or 4 T. Cocoa
  14. 1 t. Vanilla
  15. 6 T. Milk
  16. 1 box sifted powdered sugar

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 325.

  2. First, mix sugar and flour. Then, melt on top of stove and bring to boil: butter, crisco, water, cocoa.

  3. Mix 1st and 2nd steps together in 1 bowl. Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla.

  4. Pour cake mix into jelly roll pan. Cook in oven about 20 minutes or until done. (25)

  5. In saucepan (same one used for cake) bring to full boil: butter, chocolate, vanilla, and milk

  6. Remove from heat and add 1 box of sifted powdered sugar. Beat until smooth.

  7. Pour icing over hot sheet cake while icing is still warm.
