    12. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
    13. 1 tablespoon coriander powder
    14. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    15. 3 dried red chillies
    16. 3-5 garlic pods
    17. 1/2 small tomato ?
    18. 1/2 small onion
    19. For main procedure:
    20. 2 tablespoons cooking oil
    21. 1/2 small onion chopped
    22. 1 green chilli (optional)
    23. 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
    24. Salt as per taste
    25. Water to adjust the consistency

    1. Start by marinating the washed prawns/shrimp with all the ingredients mentioned for marination

    2. Add all the ingredients mentioned above for blending in a blending jar and blend to a smooth paste by adding water little by little

    3. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wide saucepan

    4. Add chopped onion and 1 green chilli (optional) sauté for a minute till the onion gets translucent

    5. Turn the heat to medium or low, and add the paste. Be very careful at this point, as the paste splashes

    6. Let the paste cook with the onion for about a minute

    7. Now add 1/4 cup of water and wait till it bubbles

    8. Add salt as per taste and a tablespoon of tamarind paste

    9. Cook for a minute and add the marinated prawns ?/shrimp

    10. Add water to adjust the consistency as per your choice and cover it with a lid and let it bubble on low flame for 5 minutes (I added 1/2 cup)

    11. Now turn the flame to high and let it bubble for another 5 minutes without the lid on till the shrimp is fully cooked. (don’t over cook or the shrimp will become rubbery)

    12. Turn off the flame and garnish with chopped cilantro leaves

    13. Perfect with steamed rice ? Enjoy ???
