It’s not Easter without a themed cake! Rather than deal with a fussy animal-shaped pan, bake two round cake layers with an 8-inch diameter and let a little food styling and frosting do the work. You can use a box cake mix make a favorite recipe from scratch, depending on the level of effort you want to put in. This method can also be used for the Carrot Easter Cake and Easter Egg Cake.
Ingredients
- 2pre-baked (8-inch) round cake layers
- 3 cups vanilla frosting
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate frosting
- 1/4 cup pink frosting
- 2candy eyeballs
How to Make It
Step 1
Assemble cake layers on a flat surface. Cut 2 opposite edges of 1 cake layer into “ears”. A “bow tie” shape will be remaining after the ears are cut out. Arrange ears above the whole cake layer, and place bow tie below whole cake layer.
Step 2
Spread face and ears with vanilla frosting. Spread bow tie with chocolate frosting. Fill a piping bag with remaining chocolate frosting and pipe whiskers, mouth, and eyes on bunny face. Fill a piping bag with pink frosting and pipe a small oval on the ears and a round nose on the face. Place candy eyeballs on face.
