Weight loss is something many people struggle with, and without the motivation and the right diet plan, only a few succeed at it. For Kim, a mother whose appearance completely changed after losing four stone, the secret is motivation and a simple fitness routine. But how did she do it?
Kim explained: “After my pregnancy with my son, I had gained a couple of pounds. I had never worked out or taken care of myself before my weight loss journey.
“I had always been really tired, not having any energy to much throughout the day. I did not have the time to look at how I looked or take care of myself in general.
“As my son was growing up, I could not keep up with him, I got tired quickly and my knees and back were not coping well to any of the daily task, like playtime, cooking and cleaning.
“I remember one specific time when I was on my heaviest, I was standing and cooking just for 30 minutes and I could feel my feet and knees were in pain. At that time, I was thinking to myself, I have to do something with this! But I still did not have any motivation, and did not feel like I had the time to do anything about it.“
Kim clearly remembers the moment when everything changed: “But, then one day I was at work, working as a breakfast waitress beside my bachelor studies, and I met a colleague of mine for the first time. And thought she looked great, with a lot of energy.
“After a while she showed me her Instagram and told me how she loved lifting weight and fitness. This is when I got really motivated to get in shape, she looked so toned, and healthy also her amount of energy was so motivating.
“This was when I got a goal, I wanted to look like her,” she said.
Kim explained she also got motivation from social media as she started following fitness influencers. Watching new workouts would get her “motivated every time to try”.
However, she admitted following advice on what to eat on social media wasn’t the best idea.
“At first when I started, I did not have any plan, both with diet and fitness routine.
“For most part, I followed some of the exercises from Instagram and looked at what everyone ate in a day. I did not know anything about why I had to eat in certain way. I just started to eat as little as I could, but this did not help.
“I was getting more tired and could not do anything, making me snack more just to keep my energy level up. At that point, I just quit. I was so lost since I did not have the money to pay for any PT hours or hire a nutritionist,” she admitted.
Kim explained how a fitness influencer’s app finally guided her in the right direction.
“After some months I saw Lisa Fiit story about her Facebook group dedicated to girls and helping them with their fitness journey, then Lisa announced that she will be releasing her fitness app which would include a training program and diet plan that you could follow.
“I tried it out and was impressed because I did not have any idea how to train or eat. But app gave me a tool, like in the gym I would just look at the videos in the app for those particular exercises for the training plan I had. And for nutrition side, I just followed the given meal plans.
“After 14 days trial was over, I felt better, and did see some change. I allowed myself to buy the monthly subscription cutting out some other expenses, and it was worth it. It me fall in love with fitness.
“I worked out for five days and kept this routine through my entire journey. I saw that I got a more defined and toned body. After a year, I hit my goal weight and lost over four stone,” Kim explained.
“Now I feel much better, I have a lot more energy and I can do everyday tasks with ease. Like carrying my three-year-old son in arm and groceries on the other arm with no issues.
But for Kim, the biggest achievement was building the confidence she had lost. “It helped me to develop more confidence and build up my self-esteem and knowing that I can get stronger and overcome everything, not being the victim anymore. So, it changed everything about my life for the better.
“Now it’s easier to wear the clothes I actually like. Am not trying to hide underneath oversized black clothes anymore. Also, gives me better self-esteem to be more critical with how I like to be treated both from other people and men. The confidence to just walk away from people that are toxic,” she explained.
Kim, who often shares her transformation on social media has left fans stunned with her new appearance.
One Instagram user, Sam Mason, commented: “Amazing transformation. Much respect” while Johanne Sophie said: “Wow, hot mama!”
