A healthy diet plan and regular exercise are both vital when losing weight. Most Britons know the importance of drinking water and an expert explained exactly how it can help burn fat.
It may seem simple but drinking water could help boost the metabolism and speed up weight loss results, according to Krissy Cela, founder of Tone & Sculpt app.
She told Express.co.uk: “Water is everything, most of us actually confuse thirst for hunger.
“Next time you start to feel peckish, try having a glass of water first. If you are still hungry after 15 minutes then it’s time to eat.
“Again, the amount of water you need varies from person to person.”
Adults should try to consume around six to eight glasses of water a day, according to NHS guidance.
Krissy explained drinking more water can actually make slimmers feel fuller and help them cut back on snacking.
Some studies have shown water can speed up the metabolism which means the body burns more calories.
A study published in the US National Library of Medicine revealed a group of adults who drank 500ml of water noticed their metabolisms spike instantly.
Drinking water also helped the slimmers burn 30 percent more calories for the following 40 minutes.
What diet plan should you follow?
As well as drinking water, those hoping to lose weight should take a look at what they eat.
Whilst eating healthy food is necessary for weight loss, Krissy explained the importance of a balanced diet.
She continued: “Say no to restrictions. I can’t stress to you enough how many people I have seen trying a quick fix restrictive diet plan that is not maintainable.
“They end up just putting on more weight than they wanted to lose in the first place.
“If you want to lose weight and keep it off, your diet needs to work around the foods you actually enjoy and your lifestyle.”
Slimmers should focus on cutting out unhealthy foods without restricting their diet plan too much, the expert suggested.
She added: “You will need to cut back on certain unhealthy foods in order to lose weight.
“But eliminating them from your diet completely usually leads to bingeing or overeating either on the weekends or once you have reached your desired goal.
“You need to think of it as a healthy living lifestyle rather than a diet, meaning that you can continue to maintain your dream body long after you have achieved it.”
