People might want to lose weight for a number of different reasons and using a diet plan can help. By opting to eat low-carb and high-fat foods, studies have shown slimmers can beat the bulge. In fact, the keto, or ketogenic, plan can burn up to three times as much fat.

What can you eat?
Following the keto diet plan, slimmers must ensure they eat foods high in fat, low in carbs and with moderate protein.
On this plan, people can eat roughly 20 grams of net carbs a day depending how strictly they are following it.
This is thought to help the body enter into a state called ketosis, which promotes fat loss.
Dieters should avoid foods high in carbs including bread, sugar, grains or sugary fruit.
Instead, they can tuck into keto-friendly foods such as meat, fish, eggs, avocados and nuts.
How does it work?
In one study published in the US National Library of Medicine, slimmers following the keto plan lost 2.2 times more weight than those on a calorie-restricted diet.
Another study compared the ketogenic diet to a low-fat diet plan, and those who ate keto lost up to three times more weight.
Speaking in the diet book, The Keto Cure, Dr Jürgen Bormann said: “While it understandably feels counter-intuitive to eat more fat, the latest scientific evidence shows that a low-carbohydrate high-fat diet combined with exercise will help regulate your metabolism and give you back control over your weight.”
By boosting the metabolism, dieters will start to burn fat more quickly.
If hoping to target a specific body part, slimmers can gradually cut unhealthy food groups from their diet, one expert claimed.
By slowly cutting things out and adding in exercise, they can shape up around certain parts of their body such as their stomach.
A diet which claims to help slimmers lose a stone in three weeks is the Fast 800 plan.
When following this, dieters must eat 800 calories on two days of the week.
This tricks the body into the fasting state but is said to be more manageable than eating fewer calories.
