Tom Kerridge has lost a huge amount of weight and now uses the experience to help others struggling with their size. He recently opened up to the Spectator on weight loss and New Year’s resolution.

He gave the magazine a number of tips, which helped him on his weight loss journey.
These include “arming yourself” to curb cravings for unhealthy food.
He advises dieters to have healthy choices around, so they can reach for those instead of fast food.
He recommends low-calorie skinny popcorn, and also telling yourself “that burger and chips on the advert looks great – however, I’m cooking myself this lovely penne pasta with pesto and pine nuts and a little bit of parmesan, and it’s delicious!”

How did Tom Kerridge lost an amazing 12 stone?
The chef, who hosts Lose Weight and Get Fit with Tom Kerridge on BBC2, lost the weight in five years.
He claims to have used the “dopamine diet” to shed the weight, and credits it for transforming the way he eats.
The dopamine diet is said to boost levels of happy hormones to make sticking to the diet easier.

What food can you eat on the dopamine diet?
- Dairy – such as milk, cheese and yoghurt
- Unprocessed meat
- Dark chocolate
- Fish like salmon and mackerel, which is high in omega-3
Tom told the Sunday Times he was inspired to start the diet on his 40th birthday.

He said: “Say we live to 80. Well, I thought, I’m halfway there.
“And then, I thought… I’m not going to get there. If I’m like this, I’m not going to make it.”
The chef ditched carbs, eating less than 90 grams a day, and ate more vegetables and health meats.
He later told GQ: “As a chef, I was grazing and snacking throughout service. Or I’d be eating cheese on toast and packets of crisps because they were quick and there and ready to go.
“I was a big one to skip breakfast. I didn’t have any.”
