Emily Maylam found herself on a downwards spiral after having to undergo two ankle surgeries, which forced her to take a step back from the gym. She soon began to neglect her nutrition and the weight started to pile on.

The 28-year-old got engaged in December 2021, and used her wedding as her motivation to shed the pounds she had gained.

Desperate to rectify her situation, she joined F45 Kensington Olympia in January this year, in a bid to ditch the “yo-yo” dieting mentality she had developed while out of action.

She explained: “I wanted a strict process to follow that would motivate me more than simply joining a gym.”

At the start of her journey, Emily weighed in at 13 stone (85kg) and soon re-found her passion for fitness and healthy eating again and dropped a whopping stone in the process.

And it did more for her than she thought, as she developed new healthy habits that helped her continue her diet after the programme had ended.

Completely dedicated to losing the weight she had gained, Emily prepared all her meals ahead of time to avoid tarnishing her new diet plan.

She admitted the meal prep process was a “challenge” but stuck to all the necessary macros and nutrients she needed to help with her goals.

Emily’s typical day of eating would consist of:


A protein shake


A relatively small lunch, aiming for around 400 calories


A larger last meal, where Emily would consume around 700 calories

By sticking to her new diet, Emily said she had “a lot more energy” and could “immediately see differences in her appearance and mindset”.

This helped improve her performance and gave her a “great sense of satisfaction and a boost to continue”.

Alongside eating healthier, she also followed a rigorous training schedule that involved six to seven training sessions per week.

She said: “Training at F45 makes working out that much easier, due to the buzz and community atmosphere.”

Now, the soon-to-be bride “no longer punishes herself” for going over her daily calorie intake.

Instead, the plan and her coaches have taught her not to differentiate between “good” and “bad” foods in the future.

She beamed: “I feel more confident in my body than ever before!”

And whilst results won’t happen overnight, she advised: “As long as you keep going and set yourself a goal to work towards, you’ll see your desired results in no time.”
