Paul Hollywood has been a judge on GBBO since 2010. On this year’s show, fans noticed the celebrity chef had lost a considerable amount of weight. Viewers will be reminded of this as Paul appears on ITV’s Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh at 10am this morning.
Paul recently opened up about the fact he had gained a little weight over lockdown.
Too much eating and drinking alcohol had led him to put on a few pounds.
When lockdown was lifted, he decided to do something about it.
In an interview with the Mirror earlier this year, Paul explained he now follows a healthy diet and has cut alcohol out of his life.
Paul said he has not been drinking at all for the last few months.
He also credited the foods he eats for his weight loss.
The chef said sticking to the same breakfast and dinner every day – fresh eggs in the morning and tomato soup in the evening – had helped him to shed the pounds.
Paul told the Mirror in March this year: “I’ve actually lost a stone.
“In fact, just over.
“I am working out a little bit – doing a bit of walking and running and tinkering.
“Just watching what I’m eating really.
“Every morning I have a couple of eggs from the farm down the road and I make my own toast.
“So, it’s chucky eggs and soldiers and then in the evening I may have another slice of bread with tomato soup.”
The chef added: “I’m on about 1,100 calories a day.
“I drink about two litres of water as well.
“I haven’t had alcohol for about four months.”
Drinking plenty of water can contribute to weight loss, according to nutrition expert Dr Michael Mosley.
As well as being beneficial for your general health, staying hydrated can leave you feeling fuller for longer, which means eating fewer calories in the day.
As for exercise, walking – like Paul does – is a great way to keep fit and can lead to weight loss if done regularly.
Dr Mosley advised doing just a few minutes of exercise a day to shed the pounds.
