Emma Scrivener, 64, and her husband Tony, their daughter Katie Thomas and Katie’s husband Shaun created a diet plan that’s easy to follow and easy to stick to after they managed to lose a considerable amount of weight as a family.

DA Group co-founder Emma Scrivener told Express.co.uk what motivated her to start her weight loss journey.

She said: “I decided that I had to lose weight after having a health scare. My blood pressure was extremely high and I had problems with my back and realised that something had to be done before I got progressively worse.

“Also we had been on a holiday and after seeing myself in a swimsuit realised I had piled on the weight.

“I had to make the decision that I would do nothing and regret it later or make the changes before it became too late.

“I never aimed to be a size 10 but knew if I could get to a size 16 from 24 I would be very happy and that was my goal.”

But how does the DA diet work?

Emma explained: “The DA diet is very easy to follow and you can have most foods on it, even treats such as chocolate, crisps and cake.

“We concentrate on portion control as that is where most people go wrong. They might be eating well but eating far too much and the diet is well balanced with the correct amounts of protein, fats and carbohydrates which has evolved over the last 10 years.

“We provide natural supplements to go along with our diet and fantastic support through our Facebook groups, mentoring and phone.

“We are extremely proud to have been awarded the Trading Standards Buy With Confidence Tick so our customers know they are in very safe hands. We are also beginning to be stocked in pharmacies which is great news that we are reaching more people.”

Emma explained it took her “around nine to 10 months” to lose weight as she was going through menopause.

“Shaun took around five months to lose five stone, Katie around three months to lose two stone and Tony took about five months to lose three and a half stone.

“We never see it as a race which it isn’t, there is no pressure to lose at any specific rate or to lose a certain amount,” she said.

“Even losing 10 percent of your body weight has such great benefits for your health and at the end of the day that is what we are concerned with, people’s wellbeing.”

Emma admitted her life drastically changed after losing weight.

She said: “My health is so much better, I don’t have issues with my BP anymore and my aches and pains have virtually disappeared.

“I am certainly more confident in my own skin!

“I threw my old swimming costume away and bought two new ones and are not afraid to wear them when on the beach.

“For me though, it’s a feeling that you are taking control of your life and making positive changes.

“I will be 64 in February and wanted to make sure that I would be feeling fabulous in my 60s which I am,” she explained.
