Carol Vorderman shares her top tips for keeping in shape at 60 ‘Earn your breakfast’

Carol Vorderman celebrates her body most days and with a second property in Pembrokeshire, she has taken up an array of sports and activities which allow her to enjoy some beautiful locations across Wales. Her 139,000 Instagram followers see her lapping up the sunshine in a bikini on the beach, showing off her dance moves, or still dressed in her wetsuit after taking part in some water activity that morning. But how does the former Countdown star stay so fit and active? She recently said she likes to “earn her breakfast”.

Earlier this month, Carol took to the water to try paddle boarding for the first time.

She told fans: “Absolutely hooked now We kicked off at 7am…high tide in the harbour…went around the headland….just the most perfect piece of paradise. Stopped on a desolate beach and back hours later for breakfast.”

And it seems paddle boarding first thing in a morning and then having breakfast has become somewhat of a morning ritual for Carol.

“And it was such a wonderful calm morning, my lovely friends treated us all to freshly cooked bacon and egg baps on the beach #kayakcarrier….A special Welsh adventure #paddleboarding,” she posted one day.

On another occasion after paddle boarding, Carol and her friends had “bacon and egg freshly cooked on the beach” after a session on the water.

It seems Carol’s hard work and regular paddle board sessions have paid off as she celebrated standing up and not falling in on Tuesday.

To mark the occasion she was pictured attempting the HAKA on the beach in order to “earn her breakfast”.

When Carol doesn’t fancy taking to the water, she likes to take advantage of the Welsh sunshine and coastline by heading out for a “long early walk”.

In one Instagram post, she shared her view from “sitting on a rock chillin on a remote beach” before heading “home listening to a bit of Pavarotti” and Sir Tom Jones before “chilling on the big sunbed” for the rest of the day.

Walking seems to be a favourite of Carol’s, especially when she can find a remote beach which she calls “my heaven”.

Sometimes, Carol likes to do an activity in the evening.

She told fans she had headed out with friends to go kayaking and fishing which they then cooked for their dinner that night on the beach.

Carol, who wrote a book called Detox Your Life, previous said she never counts calories and doesn’t go to the gym.

Instead, she prefers to embark on a health kick roughly twice a year.

“The detox is not about counting calories or fat units, it’s about being aware of the kinds of foods we put into our bodies. It’s about eating more, not less,” she wrote.

Carol previously caused a stir on social media when she posted about her unusual coffee hack for weight loss.

Her secret ingredient was butter and she explained: “So lots of you asking why butter in my coffee. Answer is I’m intermittent fasting #HUGEhealthBenefits and 1/2 teaspoon in black coffee is a GAME CHANGER.

Butter in coffee contains a large amount of fat, which slows digestion if you’re struggling to push through the final hours of intermittent fasting.

And the foods Carol chooses to eat are “proper” and “local”.

Taking to Instagram to share her early routine before she moved to Wales, she wrote: “So I’m doing this intermittent fasting thing.

“I’ve gone 20 hours without food, not felt a little bit hungry and I’m now having proper bacon – not the rubbish kind – and fresh, fresh, local eggs, everything local and I can’t wait.”
