At Cooking Light we’re ~*all about*~ eating healthy, which for the most part means avoiding excess fat, sugar, and sodium. But healthy eatings also means enjoying occasional indulgences without having to feel bad about yourself. And it’s about to be Easter!
If you are the kind of person who prefers savory treats over sweet ones, Easter’s typically chocolate and candy-filled baskets may not be your thing. But this year they could potentially be a lot more exciting.

This “Cheester” egg is made by Butler’s Farmhouse Cheeses, and is filled with English cheddar cheese from Lancashire farms. (Also, important fact: it’s NOT hollow inside.)
The texture is spreadable, and comes with oat cakes and chutney to make you feel like the fancy adult you are. The Cheester egg officially comes out on April 10, but there’s a catch—it’s only available at Sainsbury’s stores in England, where it retails for £5 (about $6.60). It will be available online, however they don’t ship internationally, alas.
Emma Garvey, cheese buyer for Sainsbury’s, told The Independent, “We’re always looking for new and unique products to offer to our customers, especially during gifting periods throughout the year when people are on the lookout for something special to give their loved ones.
She continued, “The Cheesalicious Easter Egg seemed like an obvious and exciting choice…. We can’t wait to see the response from our customers.”
While we’re disappointed that we don’t have egg-shaped Easter cheese in the U.S. just yet (ahem, paging Trader Joe’s and Aldi), we’re hoping they’ll make their way across the pond soon.
