Like many restaurant chains, Wagamama were forced to close their doors when social distancing measures came into place.

While restaurants were allowed to stay open for delivery, many Wagamama locations were closed as they worked on making it safe for customers and staff.

New safety measures have now been put into place and the restaurant chain will aim to open 24 branches on Thursday this week.

The popular restaurant chain will reopen 67 branches for delivery by the end of June.

Wagamama chief executive Emma Woods said: “Over the past couple of months our focus has been on creating a safe working environment for our team members and our two-week trial has enabled our teams to return to work safely.

“The next logical step for us is to open additional sites throughout the UK, this will still very much form a test and learn approach for the business.

“The response of our return has been extremely positive and we look forward to our guests being able to get their Wagamama fix.”

This follows in the footsteps of other restaurant chains that will soon open for delivery.

Over the last few weeks, Costa, Starbucks and Pret A Manger have started to reopen branches.

Burger King and KFC opened restaurants again for delivery and for customers to pick up takeaways.
