You know what I love? When brands not only accept that their signature products are being used for unintended purposes, but they lean into it.
Take, for instance, Pedialyte: Once an antidote for baby diarrhea, the electrolyte solution is now marketed as the hottest hangover cure since Advil.
Sonic, meanwhile, seems to have finally realized that its Slushes are practically begging to be spiked—we’re lookin’ at you, Cherry Limeade.
The drive-in chain just debuted a mocktail menu with three delicious-sounding drinks: Strawberry Daiquiri, Piña Colada, and Reaper Spicy Margarita.
While the Strawberry Daiquiri and Piña Colada Slushes certainly sound intriguing, we’re most excited about this Reaper Spicy Margarita.
The Slush is infused with the flavor of one of the world’s hottest peppers—the Carolina Reaper—and will test even the highest of heat tolerances, according to a press release.

“With Mocktail Slushes, we captured that summertime mocktail state of mind, combining tropical flavors with our icy, cold Slush so you can enjoy vacation vibes from the comfort of your car,” said Scott Uehlein, vice president of product innovation and development for Sonic, said in a statement. “Now, if you think you can handle the heat, take your taste buds on a different kind of trip with the Reaper Spicy Margarita—if you dare.”
Get ‘em while you can, because these limited-edition mocktails won’t be around forever.
