Hot Buttered Rum Single Serving


  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon(Optional)
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg(Optional)
  • 1 pinch ground allspice(Optional)
  • 1 dash vanilla extract
  • 2 ounces rum
  • 1 cup boiling water, or as needed
  • Directions

  • Step 1

    Place butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and vanilla extract in the bottom of an Irish coffee glass. Pour in rum and hot water. Stir.


  • Cook's Note:

    I’ve never used the optional spices, and Ihave always used light rum. I also don’t exactly measure my butter or brown sugar. I just place the dollop of butter in the mug along with the teaspoon of brown sugar. It’s definitely a drink to warm you up.
