5 Ingenious Kitchen Products That Will Make You Say "Why Didn’t I Think of That?"

There are a million kitchen gadgets out there designed to accomplish a single job that you can probably just do with a regular knife (and said gadget is available to you for the low, low price of $32!). I’m not here to tell you about those. What I am here to tell you about are these three little genius gadgets that do bring something new (or super useful) to the table. Indulge me.

1. That Inventions “Spread That” Serrated Warming Butter Knife, $20

I don’t care who you are; if you’re making toast for you (or your little ones) every day, spreading cold butter can quickly become the bane of your existence. This top-rated gadget features conducting technology that uses your natural body heat to warm the knife (and thus, the butter) for easier spreading.

2. Norpro Egg Perfect Egg Timer, $5.50

Place this little, semi-transparent doodad in your boiling water, and it’ll change color to indicate what level the eggs are cooked at, based on temperature. A life-changer. (And with more than 1,000 raving reviews, I’m not the only one who thinks so.)

3. Food Huggers Silicone Avocado Huggers, $11 for two

Sure, there’s a joke about millennials and avocado toast in here somewhere, but if you do eat a lot of avocados, these are a godsend. They’ll hug your unused half of the avocado until it’s ready to eat, to keep it from turning brown.

4. Amagabeli Stainless Steel Cast Iron Cleaner, $13

This medieval-looking device is so good at cleaning cast iron skillets! It takes off leftover food bits without so much as scratching the seasoning, which you’ve work so hard to build up over time. If you have a cast iron skillet (and you really should!) this guy is a must-have.

5. Baggy Rack, $7 for two

If you’ve ever tried to fill a plastic bag with sauce or even pretzels, you know how annoying it can be. And because none of us have four hands, we like to suggest these little holders. They’ll keep the bags open so that you can easily fill them without making a mess.
